About WisdomSpot

Hi,

I am George.

I have read a bit, learned a trifle and perchance earned a wisp of wisdom in the course of my life spanning over six decades. I wanted to share what I learnt, felt and thought. But I was busy all through my life – or so I thought, and kept pushing my writing thoughts to the backburner.  For one thing, I believed I had enough time ahead. For another, I remained unsure of my capacity to convert my reflections in to words fit to capture the time and interest of the readers.

Then two things happened…

One, I came across the following message in a book. Time is all you have…and you may find one day that you have less time than you think”. The book was ‘The Last Lecture’.  Its author, Randy Pausch, was a Professor of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon. “I have ten tumors in my liver and I have only a few months left to live”, he wrote. He died in 2008 at the age of forty-eight. I am already sixty-one. Yes. Tomorrow may never come.

Two, I remembered the biographical essay of an English medical practitioner who became an acclaimed author. I read it once again.

And I registered this domain name and sat down to write the first posting for it. The title of the post, ‘You Are Your Own Worst Enemy’ encapsulates the learning from that doctor’s story, a summary of which is part of the post.

I plan to write regularly on a variety of subjects covering people, places, events, literature, religion, spirituality, ethics, politics, current affairs… and some educational posts too, at times. I request readers interested in receiving posting alerts to register here.

I look forward to the kindness of your Comments and Feedback.

And I close with the words of Francis Bacon in his essay, ‘Of Studies’:

“Read not to contradict and confute; nor to believe and take for granted; nor to find talk and discourse; but to weigh and consider”.

Thanks & Regards,

V Georgekutty
